Worldwide Shelters'Transitional shelter, when covered with tarp or canvas, can serve as
basic accommodations in the immediate wake of a disaster and later becomes the frame for a
more permanent home. The phase to permanence can be accomplished using local resources
(i.e. brick, bamboo) and labor, along with eventual homeowner assistance. Worldwide Shelters
believes an emergency shelter that can transition into a permanent dwelling is asustainablealternative to the traditional relief tent.
Millions of dollars went into research and development to design the best shelter for those
need, which resulted in our current shelter, the Series 1100. The Series 1100 is a lightweight,
transitional shelter that provides sustainable, cost-effective housing solutions. As a non-profit
organization, our transitional shelter provides significant long-term value and allows the
humanitarian community to reduce the total cost of moving Internally Displaced People (IDPs)
and refugees into emergency and semi-permanent housing.
Worldwide Shelters is committed to advocating for innovation in shelter and will constantly
seek to improve and refine our shelter solutions.
