There has never been an organization like Worldwide Shelters — a not-for-profit that works in
partnership with other leading aid organizations and charities to deliver a holistic approach to
rebuilding communities ravaged by war and disaster. Shelter is the third largest spend in
humanitarian aid but the most underfunded simply because, compared to food and medicine
relief, there are far fewer organizational resources available for the shelter effort.
Worldwide Shelters strives to provide high value, thoughtfully developed shelters that not only
put a roof over people's heads in the short-term but also help them transition toward a return to
permanent housing. We will achieve this through partnerships with like-minded charities.
Worldwide Shelters also strives to be a thought leader, developing an ongoing exchange of ideas,
designs and best practices for shelter.
Worldwide Shelters has already invested more than $8 million in addressing the shelter
challenge by developing transitional housing and providing more than 14,000 relief shelters
around the globe. But the reality is that hundreds of thousands of such shelters are needed
immediately as well as an incalculable number of additional units in the coming years.
